SEA SONGS FOR THE BUTT PIRATES, WIDOW'S WATCH, AND END OF THE EARTH

A QUEER SEA-TOWN SING-ALONG!

During the pandemic, Taylor wrote roughly 100 sing-alongs, as a wish for future gathering.  The songs were inspired by five areas Taylor has found judy's roots in: queer sea towns; rural areas in blue states; rural areas in red states; cities; and suburbs.

The hope is a different sing-along show for each location will find its way to the public.  For now, this show of songs inspired by queer sea towns has.

It premiered at Pangea, NYC, 2025.  It was performed by Taylor (vocals, banjo), Matt Ray (piano and guitar) and Musical Director/Arranger J. Walter Hawkes (trombone, uke bass, synth).

We're working on an album and here's a lyric from one of the songs.  It's called Old Mermaids.

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Are they kept below below?

Are they ashamed to show their age

To the folklorist and the sage,

To the painters and the crewman,

Because their age makes them less human?

Because their age makes them less human?

Oh, oh, oh, where do the old mermaids go?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Are they kept below below?

Why are they never seen in reeds?

Because their hair has grown to weeds?

Do they no longer ride the waves

Because they're closer to their graves?

Because they're closer to their graves?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Are they kept below below?

Is it because with age the sun

Shows all the cracks of what they’ve done?

Is it because their scales don’t shine

They’re never seen above the brine?

They’re never seen above the brine?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Are they kept below below?

Are they ashamed to chase the barks

Because their teeth are sharp as sharks?

Is it their age that made them so

Or more how they are kept below?

Or more how they are kept below?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Are they kept below below?

Are they content to keep their tails

Far away from lofty sails?

Have they left the jealousy

For the younger maids at sea?

For the younger maids at sea?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Are they kept below below?

Do they lie on ocean floors,

No longer rising up for more?

Do they no longer play above

Because the depth is where they're loved?

Because the depth is where they're loved?

Oh, oh, oh where do the old mermaids go?

Where do the old mermaids go?
